Rewarding Excellence at Aurora Secondary

Young Svetlana Dowding, a Fifth former at the Aurora Secondary School, copped the top prize in Information Technology at the 2018 Caribbean Secondary Examination Council (CSEC) for her school.  The Ministry of Public Telecommunications’ representative was on hand at their high school graduation to add our praise and encouragement.

PHOTO-2018-12-11-05-52-04MOPT’s Training Co-ordinator, Donnella Collison, presented Svetlana with the gift of a Tablet, compliments of the Ministry, and took the opportunity to encourage her to pursue any of the Computer Sciences as she moves forward pursuing higher education.   This year Aurora Secondary sent thirteen (13) students up to write Information Technology ((IT) at CSEC and they recorded a 92 percent pass rate.

PHOTO-2018-12-11-05-52-04 (1)According to Ms. Collison, the secondary school exam syllabus, not unlike the MOPT’s training outreaches in and outside of Georgetown, are geared to encourage students to develop problem-solving skills using computer devices while sharpening their general computer literacy skills.

The Ministry of Public Telecommunications also presented a computer in November the Best Graduating Student in IT at the Corentyne Comprehensive High School.
