Region 3 Residents ask for more Community ICT HUBS and Training for Youths

People came from across Region 3, from as far away as Parika, to request ICT training for their young people especially over the August holidays. They also asked the Ministry to set up ICT hubs in their communities. They were advised of the requirements which must include the active involvement of members of their communities.

The residents were attending the 4th Regional ‘Government comes to you’ public outreach held on Sunday April 28 at the National Track and Field Centre, Edinburgh, WCD. The MoPT team included head of the NDMA, Floyd Levi, and Training Co-ordinator Donnella Collison.

The team also fielded questions/complaints about the quality of telephone service they receive from the local provider and the delay in the installation of landlines in their communities. Similar queries/complaints which were also recorded at similar public outreaches in Georgetown, East and West Berbice, have been passed to the Public Utilities Commission for action.

The Industry and Innovation Department has begun to notify the public and invite applications for the 2019 series of ‘Summer Code Camps’ for school-aged children which will begin in July.
