Friday 17 May, 2019 is the 50th year that the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) is observing and celebrating World Telecommunications and Information Society Day (WTISD). Since Guyana is a member of the ITU, we benefit from all of its outreach programmes and technical resources.
This year, the ITU is collaborating with the Ministry of Public Telecommunications (MoPT) to conduct a one-week training programme for Guyanese ICT Professionals that will benefit Persons with Visual and Hearing disabilities while fostering a more inclusive society. The programme is designed to teach participants to create accessible web content and develop accessible websites. A multitude of Stakeholders especially from the private sector have also been invited to the conference at the Arthur Chung Conference Center (ACCC).
While the programme begins on Monday 20th March, it will be launched formally on Friday 17th May (WTISD) with a Presentation and Cocktail Reception at 5.00 pm at the ACCC.
Members of the Media are invited to cover the Launch and Presentation.
