Heavily medaled Aleka Persaud, Third Former at St. Joseph’s, received a heartfelt gift on Friday 8 November from Minister Cathy Hughes, for her prowess in the water and the cache of medals she won at the 34th Carifta Swimming Championships in Barbados.
She came home with Gold in the 100 and 50M Long Course Free style and 100M Butterfly; and Bronze in the 200M LC Free and 50M Butterfly.
Aleka has been competing in the water all over the Caribbean since she was 6, and this December she dives in again for the local Orca Swim Club in the Inter-Club meet in Suriname.
Congratulations, and best of luck from MOPT.
